There are several injectable products used to reverse the signs of aging. Within a matter of minutes we can turn the clock back 5 to 10 years by adding volume in the right places and softening lines of animation. Beautiful results are our passion and we want you feeling and looking refreshed, not injected.
Types of Injectables
Neuromodulators — Dysport and Botox
Neuromodulators are products injected into specific muscles in order to relax animation. This relaxation allows the lines on your face to also relax, bringing about smoother skin. Both Botox and Dysport are commonly used for this procedure.
These products take up to 2 weeks to fully onset, but the results are amazing, and last 3 ½ to 4 months.
Depending on the quality of your skin, regular use of these products (3 times per year) can eliminate lines all together, if the process is started in your 30s or 40s.
It is never too late to start treating lines of animation because the lift you get is incredible.
Volume Replacement/Tissue Fillers
Hyaluronic Acids — Restylane and Juvederm Voluma
These fillers are injected into the face yielding immediate results. These products last between 1 to 2 years, and since they are made of a naturally occurring molecule found in our tissue, there is a very low incidence of adverse reactions.
These products instantly replace volume; softening the contours of the face while lifting descending tissue. Although these products are long lasting, we recommend injectable filler appointments every 6 months in order to maintain your results.
Poly-L-Lactic Acid — Sculptra
This filler is injected in areas of volume loss that need softening such as the temples and pre-auricular areas. This product stimulates the synthesis of collagen by creating an inflammatory process.
Mild swelling is noted for 2 to 3 days and gentle massage is recommended during the first 5 days after injection. The results of this product last up to 2 years, but depending on the area may require 2 to 3 treatments about 3 to 4 weeks apart for maximum results.
The use of platelet rich plasma (PRP), a portion of our blood that has a platelet concentration above baseline, to promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints, has been gaining popularity among the public after many professional athletes turn to this procedure to decrease healing time and increase efficacy.
More recently PRP has been used in the aesthetic industry to combat our bodies waning ability to maintain skin integrity. The excitement around this procedure has been growing because of the promising results seen in improved skin quality and texture.
This procedure is gaining popularity, as celebrities report fantastic results with their “vampire facelifts.” During the PRP procedure, your own blood is drawn and spun down to separate the PRP from the red blood cells. The PRP is then injected into the face to stimulate growth factors and stem cells—flooding the area to begin the repair of damaged tissue.
We then continue with micro-needling, using the PRP as the glide solution to better activate and stimulate the facial tissue into the healing process. These treatments are recommended in series of 3 to 4 treatments on a monthly basis.
Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure that creates many micro-channels in the skin. This controlled micro-injury creates minimal damage to the epidermis resulting in limited downtime. After the micro-injuries are produced in the skin, a cascade of events occur:
The inflammation process begins, which produces redness, mild swelling, and mild tenderness lasting for less than 24 hours.
Followed by the repair process, where the body begins to repair itself through the release of glycoproteins, growth factors, and the proliferation of fibroblasts.
Finally, the skin tissue begins to remodel with the increase of surrounding collagen resulting in increased tissue integrity and thickening of the epidermal layer.
Studies have shown that these micro-channels are completely healed in less than 24 hours.
About the Procedure
Your face will be cleansed and a topical numbing cream will be applied and left on the skin for 15 minutes. Your face will be cleansed and prepped for the procedure.
Next the aesthetician will slide the SkinPen across the face using a product to enhance the glide of the pen.
The Skin Pen is equipped with single-use small, sterile needles that oscillate up and down with the depth of penetration determined according to your needs. Our medical aesthetician will determine an appropriate number of passes to obtain the end point of pink-red skin. You will look like you have sunburn for the next 6 to 12 hours. You will be required to follow a skin regime that will be sent home with you.
Recovery and Typical Results
You can expect to experience mild irritation and redness that usually resolves within 24 hours. You need to avoid the use of Retina A for 3 days before the procedure and 10 days after.
No makeup or skin care products are used for the first 24 hours. Once you are 24 hours post procedure you may resume wearing makeup. You may experience mild flaking or peeling for a few days, revealing a smooth and even-toned texture that you will love. It is advised to have 3 treatments no sooner than one month apart.
Your skin will begin to show signs of improvement in as little as 72 hours and up to 2 weeks after the procedure, with continued improvement throughout the micro-needling series.
Chemical peels are an effective cosmetic treatment for a full facial rejuvenation—refresh and renew your skin.
These solutions are applied to the face to remove dead, dry outer skin cells that tend to dull the complexion. There are a variety of chemical peel solutions available, which allow for customization of treatment for your specific needs.
Glycolic Acid Peel – Also referred to as an alpha-hydroxy peel, glycolic acid is a natural substance derived from sugar cane. When placed on the skin, this solution produces a softer, smoother complexion with more even tone and pigmentation. It also stimulates cell rebuilding within the skin, which creates longer-lasting results.
Salicylic Acid Peel – Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid that works equally well on dehydrated and acne-prone skin. The solution comes in various concentrations, ranging from 20% (moderate) to 30% (deep). This allows our staff to provide customized treatment, depending on the specific skin concerns of the patient. The peel addresses signs of aging, sun damage, minor blemishes and acne.
Peels for Sensitive Skin – At Beyond Beauty, we offer specialized peel formulations designed for even the most sensitive skin. This allows patients with more delicate complexions to enjoy the rejuvenation benefits of a peel without skin irritation or damage. Our highly trained staff will provide a thorough evaluation of your skin before recommending the best peel solution for your needs.
Advanced Corrective Peel – Formulated with an exclusive blend of clinical-grade acids and a maximized peel concentration of phenylethyl resorcinol, Advanced Corrective Peel dramatically diminishes the appearance of discoloration, while smoothing texture and refining the appearance of pores, to restore a brighter, more clarified skin tone.
Pigment Balancing Peel – Targeting the appearance of uneven skin tone to improve photodamage and acne-related discoloration. Pigment Balancing Peel combines brightening agents with a peeling solution.
About the Procedure
Chemical peels are performed by our professionally trained staff. After the skin is thoroughly cleansed, the peel solution is applied and remains on the skin for a prescribed period of time. The peel is then removed using a neutralizing solution and water.
After the procedure, the skin may be red and feel sunburned. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure until the skin heals completely. Most return to work or regular activities the same day, particularly after a light peel.
Recovery and Typical Results
Results from a chemical peel will appear gradually as the skin heals. Most patients see full results within 1 to 2 weeks. The duration of the results will depend on the depth of the peel, with deeper peels lasting much longer.
